American Idol Winners: Lee DeWyze Takes 1st, Crystal Bowersox 2nd
After 17 weeks of 'Idol' performances, Lee DeWyze came on strong down the stretch and was crowned the winner of "American Idol" Season 9 during the show's two-hour Grand Finale on Wednesday night.
Ohioan Crystal Bowersox was the odds-on favorite to win it all for most of season 9. But the low-key Illinois-bred Lee garnered the popular vote and emerged victorious after weeks of building momentum and amassing a loyal following of DeVotees. Casey James finished 3rd place.
A cavalcade of performers also hit the finale stage, including Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson and Bret Michaels.
